PENAMPANG – Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) is set to contest the 15th general election under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) banner, having earlier contested under its own logo during the 2020 state election.
Party president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili said the matter had already been decided between GRS leaders.
“Of course, we will use the logo. This has been decided. It is GRS’ decision, so we will comply with that. For unity and solidarity, we use GRS.
“No harm in this...So I think the important thing is the solidarity behind the whole move.
“We’re supposed to be seen together, but we will still go down with our flags (when campaigning on the ground),” he said after chairing a party’s supreme council meeting at the party’s headquarters in Donggongon here today.
PBS is a component of GRS alliance along with Bersatu, Sabah Star, SAPP and Usno.
During the 2020 Sabah election, PBS decided to use their own logo after it abandoned Barisan Nasional and won seven seats while being a Perikatan Nasional-friendly party.
It later joined GRS soon after the results were announced.
PBS was contesting under the BN banner for 16 years previously but had contested under its own logo between 1985 and 2002. – The Vibes, October 14, 2022
