KUALA LUMPUR – In a thinly veiled attack directed at Muda, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth has threatened to field a candidate in the former’s sole parliamentary seat if its electoral partner refuses to toe the line in seat negotiations.
The caution was issued by Federal Territories Amanah Youth chief Asmaaliff Abdul Adam in light of reports that Muda is eyeing the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat, which was won by PH in the 2018 general election.
“If we have yet to begin proper work together and they (Muda) are already trying to kacau (disturb) Titiwangsa, don’t blame us (PH) if we place a candidate in Muar,” he said, ostensibly referring to Muda’s singular seat held by its president and incumbent MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
“When our friends wanted to join us in PH, we welcomed them…we formed an electoral pact with them to face GE15 (15th general election).
“We have barely started working together, but they are already asking for this, (even going so far as to) suggest a candidate…this is wrong discipline,” Asmaaliff, who is also PH Youth elections director, lamented during a PH Youth event at the Sultan Sulaiman Club here last night.

Yesterday, it was reported that Muda is among several parties vying for a chance to compete for the Titiwangsa seat, with Federal Territories Muda chairman Taufiq Zarak saying that Muda’s intention to contest in the area is subject to discussions with PH.
The Malaysian Insight quoted Buku Jalanan Chow Kit founder Siti Rahayu Baharin as expressing interest in being a Muda candidate for GE15, with intentions to contest in Kuala Lumpur.
Titiwangsa, one of the 11 parliamentary seats in Kuala Lumpur, had previously been given to Bersatu during the 14th general election (GE14) when the now-Perikatan Nasional (PN) component party was a member of PH prior to its withdrawal from the coalition on February 23, 2020.
On October 15, Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa said that the PH component party intends to contest the seats that were once allocated to Bersatu in GE14.
It is believed that incumbent Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Rina Harun will be sent to compete in another area while Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who is also Titiwangsa Bersatu chief, is poised to take over her seat.
PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had all but confirmed on October 12 that the coalition will enter into an electoral pact with youth-based outfit Muda to face GE15, following Syed Saddiq announcing the party’s intention to join PH. – The Vibes, October 17, 2022
