ALOR GAJAH – Barisan Nasional (BN) hopeful Shahril Hamdan wants to create job opportunities for the folk of Alor Gajah, especially the youth, should he take the federal seat in the 15th general election.

Speaking to reporters after submitting his nomination papers to the Election Commission (EC) today, the Umno information chief added that he plans on fortifying the micro, small, and medium enterprises to ensure adequate work is available.

“We can achieve this potential for youth entrepreneurs. There are around 5,000 Alor Gajah graduates nationwide. We want to offer job opportunities near your own home.

“I will present my proposal to Alor Gajah but briefly, this is an industrial area. So, how do we ensure that these (industries) benefit the people of Alor Gajah?

“I know many SMEs here are operated by youth. I hope BN supporters will consider my candidacy,” he said.

At the same time, Shahril added that he wants to strengthen the agriculture sector there through digital platforms and e-commerce, as it is a good source of income for its players.

He explained that the agriculture sector can be modernised and made digital.

Shahril’s efforts in seizing the Alor Gajah seat will see him facing off with Perikatan Nasional incumbent Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof, former Melaka chief minister Adly Zahari, and Gerakan Tanah Air umbrella group representative Muhammad Nazriq Abdul Rahman in a four-corner fight. – The Vibes, November 11, 2022
