KUALA SELANGOR – The battle for the parliamentary seat here is set to see incumbent Pakatan Harapan (PH) Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad in a four-corner fight against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Mohd Noor Mohd Shahar and Pejuang’s Shaid Rosli.
Armed with the experience and serving the constituency since 2018, Dzulkefly is convinced that his track record and tenacity during the Covid-19 pandemic will enable him to defend the seat.
“I have prepared a performance report for the voters, of what I have been doing in the past four years and will table it during this campaign period. Let them see what I can offer from my proven track record and what I did for them,” he told The Vibes.
He said he changed his mind about not running after BN paraded a minister that would only serve the federal government.
He added that the people deserve a representative that will rise to the occasion during challenging times, including the health crisis that hit the nation in the past two years.
“I have stayed on in good and bad times, which includes my tenacity battling Covid-19 in the state, and will always be there for the people in Kuala Selangor,” said the former health minister.
“I won’t rest on my laurels. I will defend Kuala Selangor no matter what.”
Meanwhile, opponent Tengku Zafrul displayed a low-key response when asked about his strategy.
“As expected, there are four candidates vying for the seat. My strategy is to listen to the people, show them appreciation and solve their problems. BN is the only option for them and we definitely pushed for something better.”
PN’s Noor believes he has the advantage as a local resident in Kuala Selangor and has declared that he has the upper hand.
“Even though I am the underdog, I know what’s going on the ground since people know me here. I have been here long enough.
“Let the big guns jostle against themselves. My main agenda is to show to the people that PN will go the extra mile to battle corruption.”
Malaysians will head to the polls on November 19 with early polling on November 15. – The Vibes, November 5, 2022
