IPOH – Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived for the special state-level party meeting here at 8.12pm.

The meeting chaired by Perak Umno state liaison chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad was scheduled to start at 9pm.

Other Perak Umno veterans who are here for the discussion – said to be about their menteri besar candidate – include former Supreme Council member and Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz as well as the state’s deputy chairman Datuk Azian Osman and other state leaders.

Yesterday, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was booted from the menteri besar office after losing a confidence vote with 48 votes against, 10 for him and one damaged or abstained vote.

At 6.30pm, Faizal announced that he had tendered his resignation to Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah at 3pm, triggering the collapse of the state government. – The Vibes, December 5, 2020
