KUALA LUMPUR – The flood situation in the east coast states in the peninsula remained the same this morning from last night.

In Kelantan, there were 30 people still at a relief centre (PPS) in Pasir Mas at 8 am today.

Pasir Mas social welfare officer Azizan Aziz said they consisted of six families, who are being sheltered at the PPS at SK Tok Deh.

“They have yet to return home as their houses, which are in low-lying areas, are still inundated by flood waters,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Meanwhile, according to the Drainage and Irrigation Department’s website at 8am today, water in Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang receded to the alert level of 7m.

The weather in Kelantan this morning was reportedly fine.

In Terengganu, there is also no change in the flood situation. Four families were still seeking shelter at the PPS at SMK Merchang in Marang at 8 am today.

Head of the state disaster management committee secretariat Lt-Col Che Adam A Rahman said the situation would be assessed to determine if they could return home today.

“The stagnant flood water receded yesterday and the weather is improving today.” he added. – Bernama, December 9, 2020.
