Political stability reason for Sarawak’s progress: Fadillah

KOTA KINABALU – Sarawak is progressing due to greater political stability, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said.

The state has been able to make advances after the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to less politicking after the present multi-coalition government was formed, following the general election last November. 

The Petra Jaya MP said Sarawak is now exporting renewable energy to Kalimantan, Indonesia.

He added that Singapore is also buying renewable energy from Sarawak, and the state will soon also be trading renewable energy with Sabah once transmission lines are completed.  

Fadillah also said Sarawak is collaborating with Airbus and Rolls Royce to undertake research and development on green hydrogen and fuel cells as future aviation fuel. 

“This is the result when we have (political stability). We no longer have politicking because the state government is strong and stable. 

“We are not worried about political matters anymore. Everything we do is focused on nation building,” said Fadillah during a working visit to Kota Kinabalu today.

Fadillah said this when asked about the National Unity Government Convention held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. 

“Sarawak was also (highlighted as an) exemplary state (with) political stability (at the convention). Our post-Covid-19 strategy has advanced, allowing us to be in the frontline of renewable energy, whereby we can also help Sabah,” he said.

He said the unity government was strong and stable and the 148 MPs supporting it showed that it had done well in the last six months since being formed.

“Whatever has been said out there (about toppling the government) is nothing but political propaganda and a gimmick. 

“I wish to remind all the political parties and politicians that Malaysia needs stability. Only when our government is stable and strong will we be (able to) restore investors’ confidence.” – The Vibes, May 15, 2023
