KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Annuar Musa confirmed he has submitted an application to join PAS and is awaiting a decision from the party’s leadership.

The former Umno secretary-general said he had submitted his membership application a few months ago, but it has yet to be approved by PAS.

“More than 1,000 people are with me, and we are now waiting for a decision from PAS leadership.

“I have sent in my application and now it is up to them (PAS) to accept me,” he said at the Muafakat Nasional Aidilfitri open house in the nation’s capital today.

The former Ketereh MP said he made the decision after considering the national political landscape and also the situation in Umno.

It was earlier reported that Perikatan Nasional was expected to announce the admission of Annuar and other former Umno leaders into the party.

Among the names mentioned were former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Meanwhile, Annuar also said he did not apply to rejoin Umno as the party was “totally broken”.

He said PAS was the right choice for him to continue the unification of the Malay-Muslim community. – The Vibes, May 20, 2023
