BUTTERWORTH – Chow Kon Yeow intends to seek an audience with Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak on June 27 to obtain consent to dissolve the state assembly.
If all goes as planned, the chief minister said the assembly will be dissolved on June 28 to pave the way for the state election.
Chow was speaking to reporters after officiating a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Taman Senangin Community Management Council hall here today.
Penang has 40 state seats and in the last state election in 2018, Pakatan Harapan won 37, including two from Bersatu candidates who were then part of the coalition.
Barisan Nasional won two and PAS one.
Penang will be going to the polls soon, along with Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu. – Bernama, June 20, 2023
