KOTA BARU – Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has issued a stern warning to traders who misuse their Free Trading Area (WBB) programme licences by giving them to foreigners.

Annuar said traders found doing so will have their names blacklisted and their licences revoked.

“Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will investigate to ensure that traders do not get more than one WBB licence, and that the licence is issued only to Malaysian citizens,” he told reporters today.

Annuar said as at yesterday, DBKL has received 3,300 applications for WBB licences.

He said 1,700 applications had been approved and the number of rejected applications is small, adding that those rejected had applied to operate in unauthorised areas. Remaining applications are still being processed

Annuar hoped those who have been issued with the licence will not cause inconvenience to the public and to operate their business according to the stipulated standard operating procedures.

He added that he is happy that the programme is also carried out in other states. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
