KUALA LUMPUR – Sacked Umno member Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz is joining rival party Bersatu.

The former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief told The Star he would be receiving his Bersatu membership from party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin tonight.

Muhyiddin, who heads the Perikatan Nasional coalition, will launch PN’s Negri Sembilan election machinery for state elections tonight.

Tun Faisal, who was among those sacked en masse from Umno in January by president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had first been handed a six-year suspension from the party in 2021.

Others sacked along with him in January include former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar.

Noh, who was Tanjung Karang MP while with Umno, has said he will be helping the PN campaign in the coming polls, while former Rembau MP Khairy has been coy about joining another party. – The Vibes, July 9, 2023
