KUALA LUMPUR – The public has been reminded not to fly drones without the proper authorisation in areas with large crowds during the upcoming state elections.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), in a Facebook post today, said this was to ensure there were no untoward incidents, especially involving public safety and security.

“This prohibition applies for the three key dates set by the Election Commission, namely nominations of candidates on July 29 (Saturday), early voting on August 8, and polling on August 12.

“The prohibition will also apply throughout the 14-day campaign period after nominations,” read the statement.

The handling of drones and other flying activities which could endanger the public or properties are governed by Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3); Regulation 98, Regulations 140-144 of the Civil Aviation of Malaysia Regulations and Civil Aviation Directives (CADs). – The Vibes, July 26, 2023
