KUALA LUMPUR – Khairy Jamaluddin has been spotted supporting a Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate in the campaign for the upcoming state election.

The politician-turned-radio deejay, who was sacked from Umno earlier this year, was seen in a viral TikTok video saying he is lending support to Datuk Harrison Hassan, as he believes the latter has what it takes to be a good assemblyman.

Harrison is running for the Jeram seat in Selangor, facing Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Jahaya Ibrahim in a straight fight.

“Harrison can be a good assemblyman. If not, I wouldn’t have come out to support (him),” said Khairy, a former federal minister.

According to Khairy, he has known Harrison for over 20 years, going as far back as joining Umno Youth together back then.

Harrison was Umno Youth’s working secretary when Khairy was its exco member before becoming the wing’s chief.

Formerly a Sg Buloh Umno division deputy chief, Harrison was stripped of his party membership automatically when he emerged as PN’s candidate in Jeram.

This is the first time Khairy has been spotted in the state election campaign.

Since his suspension from Umno, Khairy has kept to the sidelines of politics, focusing on his podcast show Keluar Sekejap with former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan and his new job as a Hot FM radio deejay. – The Vibes, August 8, 2023
