GEORGE TOWN – Penang DAP deputy chairman P. Ramasamy is scheduled to make an important political announcement tomorrow.

Speculations have emerged that the former three-term Prai assemblyman may quit the socialist party.

However, when contacted, Ramasamy said that he was baffled how newspapers would know of his intention.

“I am just holding a media briefing at my former service centre,” he said.

Ramasamy held the post of Penang deputy chief minister II from 2008 until this month.

He has invited media personnel to attend the event but did not specify its objectives.

Ramasamy was among five state executive councillors from DAP who were not renominated to contest the Penang election this Saturday.

The others were Phee Boon Poh, Chong Eng, Yeoh Soon Hin, and Soon Lip Chee.

Besides them, Bagan Dalam state seat incumbent M. Satees was also not fielded again.

Satees, a close aide of Ramasamy, has since quit DAP and is contesting to defend the seat as an independent. – The Vibes, August 9, 2023
