KUALA BERANG – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that there would be no compromise with any minister involved in corrupt practices.
The prime minister said any cabinet members involved in corruption would be sacked immediately.
“All cabinet members of the unity government will be kicked out and sent to jail if they are involved in corruption.
“After eight months of the administration, there were no no cabinet members under my watch who were involved in corruption,” he said when giving a ceramah in Kuala Telemong, near here, last night.
Also present were the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates for Telemong and Kuala Berang, Datuk Rozi Mamat and Jalaludin Ismail.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said all ministers were often reminded not to get involved in any corrupt activities.
He said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has been asked to investigate all reports, regardless of whether it involves a minister from the unity government.
“We will not compromise, any minister found involved in such practices would be kicked out and jailed,” he said.
On another matter, Anwar, who is also Tambun MP, asked Perikatan Nasional (PN) to wait for the next general election to change the government.
“PN leaders need to be patient and wait for the 16th general election to change the government.
“If the results of the six state elections this Saturday are not favourable to the unity government, it will not change the status of the federal government,” he said.
However, he said leaders in PN need to speak the truth, especially with regard to allocations from the federal government to the states, including Terengganu, Kelantan, Perlis and Kedah. – The Vibes, August 10, 2023
