PETALING JAYA – Tesla has acquired a building in Cyberjaya to house their Malaysian office, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his wish for its owner, billionaire Elon Musk to officiate it together.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told a ceramah during the Madani Unity Roadshow at the Hiliran People’s Housing Project in Kuala Terengganu last night that Tesla’s Asia regional head met him recently, asking for him to officiate the office, either in September or October.

He commended Tesla’s efficiency, saying this happened just several weeks after his virtual meeting with billionaire and Tesla owner Elon Musk.

“...Tesla’s Asia regional chief met with me, saying, ‘prime minister, we have bought a big building in Cyberjaya for our headquarters, and we are currently finishing it up, either in October or by the end of September…we want you to officiate’.

“I said I can, but on the condition that Elon Musk comes here and we will officiate it together, Insya-Allah,” Anwar said.

It was previously announced after the virtual meeting that Tesla was going to open a headquarters in Cyberjaya. This came in the midst of Tesla finally entering the Malaysian market with its Model Y and Model 3 in mid-July.

In his speech, while hyping up Tesla to the crowd, Anwar joked about how SpaceX and PMX are cousins.

SpaceX is another one of Musk’s ventures while PMX has been Anwar’s nickname since he became the country’s 10th prime minister.

“Elon Musk! Who is Elon Musk? The world’s richest man. He owns Tesla, Starlink…the one with the Internet access. He has SpaceX.

“Space X is considered the cousin of PMX,” Anwar said in jest. – The Vibes, August 10, 2023
