KOTA KINABALU – Police have opened three investigation papers on the domestic violence claim by a 31-year-old businesswoman against her high-ranking public servant husband.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said they have received several police reports from the woman who had identified herself only as Ms Wong and one from her husband.
“We have received three reports. The reports lodged by the woman on April 19 and July 18 are now being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
“One more report from the husband on July 25 is being investigated under Section 427 of Penal Code.
“All three investigation papers that have been opened are still in the process and will be completed soon,” he said in a statement here today.
Wong, who alleged she had been assaulted by her husband yesterday, demanded swift justice for her case after she claimed she had made three police reports against her husband.
She claimed her husband is a top civil servant in one of the state ministries in Sabah and his position was given the distinct status of a very, very important person (VVIP).
Wong said she had lodged a police report on April 18, July 4 and also on July 18.
Wong initially withdrew her first report a day after on April 19 after the husband apologised, but reinstated her claims in a new police report on July 19.
In the report Wong had claimed her husband had bashed her head to the wall, shattering the switch of a ceiling fan during a squabble at home.
Her husband was called in by police for questioning but later released on police bail.
