KOTA BARU – Kelantan caretaker deputy menteri besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah today said Datuk Ahmad Yakob did not want to be retained as the state’s menteri besar.
He said since the 14th general election, he (Ahmad) did not want to contest, but PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang wanted him to lead the party.
“There is no issue about him being dropped. Since GE14, he did not want to contest, but the party president wanted him.
“However, this time, he has made the request again and the party president has agreed on grounds of his age and health,” he said when met at SK Panji here, today.
It was earlier reported that there was widespread speculation that the Kelantan menteri besar and his deputy would be replaced if PAS continued its rule of the state.
Many had assumed that Ahmad, who is also the Pasir Pekan candidate, would be replaced.
On talk that there would be two deputy menteris besar if PAS won the state, Amar, who is the candidate for the Panchor state seat, said the matter would be decided later by the party and the new menteri besar. – The Vibes, August 12, 2023
