KOTA KINABALU – Focus on recapturing Sabah as the existing Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal opposition is already strong, Warisan was told today.
Sabah PKR Youth chief Raymond Ahuar in a statement today suggested there is no need for Warisan to go national, and that Warisan is weakening the pact by moving independently.
“They (Warisan) do not want to be with PH under the same coalition. Instead, they want to move on their own. Worse, they did not support several efforts of the opposition in Parliament just because of personal problems with several PH leaders.”
Raymond said he does not oppose Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s decision to take Warisan national, but it is odd to bring the “unity” sentiment to the peninsula.
Shafie had used the “unity” message during the Sabah election in September.
“His campaign in Sabah was huge with almost all billboards in Sabah featuring his face with the word ‘unity’. But he failed to deliver the real message of and it was not accepted by the Kadazandusun Murut Rungus community (KDMR) here.
“The ‘unity’ sentiment has been used by PKR since 1999. Today, it is the largest multiracial party in the country with over a million members,” said Raymond.
On Saturday, Shafie announced during the party’s general assembly that Warisan would go national.
Meanwhile, Sabah PKR Youth information chief Razeef Rakimin in a statement today urged for a reshuffle in the Warisan Plus leadership as he foresees that the state opposition will fail in the next election if led by the same person.
“If the opposition does not unite and make a change, then the rakyat will not choose Warisan Plus in the next election.
“This has been proven by Warisan Plus’ failure in the last state election as it made the wrong move and had egoistic leader(s). I am not pointing at anyone, but it is time for a change in Sabah’s opposition leadership. It is something that has been raised by many component parties before this.”
Razeef said there is no definite direction from Warisan Plus leaders, who have also failed to unite Sabahans.
“The tolerance among the different races and religions in Sabah reflect the real meaning of Malaysia, but if it is used as a tool for a certain interest, it will surely fail. The people are wise to judge the sincerity of a leader.
“Warisan Plus must find common ground, seeing as the three component parties in the pact are national parties.”
Razeef also said that after winning the election in 2018, several Warisan Plus leaders were seen moving away from the coalition’s direction and have not kept their promises to the rakyat.
“In fact, there have been several leaders who did not voice out problems faced by the people and have caused dissatisfaction, resulting in their loss after 28 months of governance,” he said. – The Vibes, December 14, 2020
