PETALING JAYA – A former gangster appears to be offering help to people cornered by “Ah Long” (illegal moneylenders).

On TikTok, Mustafa Khan shared a video of him confronting an alleged “Ah Long” who is said to have trespassed a borrower’s home and made off with a laptop due to late payment.

According to Mustafa, the borrower complained to him that he had borrowed RM1,500 from a moneylender and had already paid up to RM4,000.

However, the moneylender wanted more money.

Mustafa allegedly confronted the “Ah Long”, as seen in a video he shared of him berating a man. However, there were no physical altercations.

Despite the heated verbal exchange, the “Ah Long” appeared calm and did not attempt to retaliate by means of a physical attack.

In a follow-up video, Mustafa, who claimed to be from Persatuan Hak Masyarakat Malaysia (PHMM), said the borrower came to them, saying the “Ah Long” wanted RM12,000 from him.

Mustafa said when the borrower called the “Ah Long” from their office, the “Ah Long” had allegedly touched on matters like solat (Muslim prayers). He said this would make anyone angry.

He added that it was not about the money per se, but the “Ah Long” had crossed a line by trespassing and stealing a laptop.

In another video, which was heavily blurred, Mustafa claimed they had cooperated with police, which then led to the arrest of another “Ah Long”.

This “Ah Long” had apparently loaned RM13,000 to an individual.

Repayment had been made to the tune of RM28,000, but the “Ah Long” had apparently wanted another RM30,000.

He claimed the “Ah Long” had also seized a laptop, an iPhone XS and gold chain from the victim, amounting to over RM20,000.

It would appear Mustafa is actively confronting these illegal moneylenders, as evident in yet another video where he told one off, saying, “You punya sound kurang sikit.” (Lower your voice.)

Who is Mustafa Khan?

According to a news report in April this year, Mustafa, 31, who is PHMM chief, claimed the association has resolved 3,400 “Ah Long” related cases over the span of six months.

He said he previously led a thug life for 12 years, having been in and out of prison.

However, he turned his life around because of his mother. – The Vibes, August 19, 2023
