PETALING JAYA – Despite RapidKL’s introduction of a women-only coach for its Kajang MRT line, concerned passengers have highlighted the presence of men in such designated spaces.

A video uploaded by one user six days ago highlighting the predicament has since gained a large traction.

TikTok user, @stfuwtv, posted the video from inside the women-only coach and tagged RapidKL.

“Hi RapidKL. Love this initiative for us girls. But apparently some people still don’t understand or can’t read that this is the women-only coach,” she said.

However, in another video by TikTok user @shueeewenn, which was uploaded yesterday, she still spotted men in the pink coach, a day after the initiative officially kicked off.

“Can’t blame them…they’re just Ken,” she wrote in her video, cynically referencing the trope in the recent “Barbie” film where in “Barbie Land”, the Kens simply exist and are “just there” regardless whether the Barbies pay attention to them.

While the pink signage was already up by then, RapidKL had announced that the rule was meant to be operational only from September 18.

They also shared the signage and location of the women-only coach, which is marked by pink livery and is situated in the middle coach of each train.

From the photos shared, the women-only coach is easily noticeable from the platform as the floor and doors are pink, with the words “WANITA” and “WOMEN” printed in bold, white letters.

In a video posted this morning, @shueeewenn was happy to report that she spotted a police officer inside the pink coach.

The video was a response to another TikTok user who said: “It’s sad that the train station doesn’t have anyone maintaining order for this.”

“We have abang polis today!” @shueeewenn exclaimed happily in her video this morning.

One user asked her if the men were issued compounds, to which she replied that they were only chased out of the pink coach. – The Vibes, September 21, 2023
