KUALA LUMPUR – Checks by police at a rented two-storey shophouse in Jalan Perhentian Kampung Kovil Hilir, Sentul, here led to the discovery of three male bodies.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said they had earlier received a call about a fight at the premises around 11pm yesterday.
“Upon entering the unit on the second floor, police found three bodies stacked on top of each other in a storeroom.
“Initial investigations revealed that the five-room unit was rented by a couple from Sri Lanka in their forties, a man in his twenties and two other men from Sri Lanka between the ages of 20 and 30," he told a press conference, here, today.
He said the deceased were also tied up and had their heads covered in plastic when found, while one body was naked.
The fight is believed to have occurred between the husband and wife with two men, also from Sri Lanka, who were their friends from Klang who had come to visit two days ago.
However, when police arrived at the scene, the two men had fled and were now suspects in the murder case.
Allaudeen said it is believed that the couple did not even realise there was a murder in their home involving the three men – one of whom was their son and the two other tenants.
“Their son and the two other victims were staying in separate rooms and they only realised what had happened when the police arrived,” he said.
He said there were also slash marks on the bodies, adding that police believe the two suspects had planned the whole thing.
However, police have yet to determine the motive behind the triple murder.
A knife was also discovered at the scene, believed to be the murder weapon.
“Upon questioning the couple, police have identified the two suspects and were now tracking them,” he added.
The couple has since been remanded for seven days to help with investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The couple and three victims all had valid travel documents.
The bodies have since been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem and police have released pictures of the two suspects.
