KUALA LUMPUR – Desperate and at a loss after finding his family, including a pair of young children, disappearing while they were on holiday, a man is appealing for the public’s help to locate all the victims.

Using the name Ah Pek on Facebook, he said that the last time they were in contact was last Friday (September 29).

He said the four of them had gone on vacation to Pulau Perhentian in Terengganu after parking their car at the Kuala Besut jetty on the mainland.

“Maybe I rarely ask for help, but this time I really need help,” he said, adding that a police report was lodged yesterday.

“My mother-in-law, younger brother, and two children have not been contactable until today. The car plate number is JRW 6380,” he said.

Meanwhile at X (formerly Twitter), a friend of Ah Pek known as Ian Zainal uploaded in a thread screenshots of comments received, including those who said that the car the family was driving in was no longer at the jetty.

“They have not been found yet. The resort has made a declaration that they all checked out on the 30th. The car is no longer at the jetty, they say. Two mobile phones are off and cannot be contacted since the 29th,” said an individual named Pae Alysha.

Ian said that as of 12.44am yesterday, the fate of the four of them was still unknown.

Getaran, the Malay-language sister portal of The Vibes, observed the social media updates.

Through the same thread, a netizen with the handle @intan_saphire said that feedback from the travel agent who managed the holiday of the four individuals involved confirmed that all of them had left Perhentian Island on October 1 to return to Kuala Besut.

Meanwhile, Ah Pek, who is in Kuala Besut, informed on Facebook that efforts to locate the four members of his family have not been successful.
