PETALING JAYA – Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has brushed aside suggestions from Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that Perikatan Nasional (PN) would be able to take over the Pahang administration if it wins the Pelangai by-election this weekend.
He said all 15 Barisan Nasional assemblymen in Pahang have since expressed strong support for the state government and will stand firm with it.
Speaking to reporters after a programme in Bentong, Pahang, the menteri besar said Muhyiddin’s statement is slanderous and merely a means of confusing voters ahead of the Pelangai by-election.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Perikatan Nasional chairman, said there are members of the state assembly who would leap parties if the PN candidate wins in Pelangai.
"As politicians, we should talk about hope, about the people’s wellbeing…not scare the people, make up false stories and imagine something false,” said Wan Rosdy.
Currently, the Pahang state government is made up of 16 BN assemblymen and eight Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen, while PN has 17 assemblymen.
The Pelangai by-election is being held following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Seri Johari Harun from BN who was killed in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, Selangor on August 17.
The October 7 by-election will witness a three-cornered fight between BN's Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, Kasim Samat (PN) and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni. – The Vibes, October 4, 2023
