THE timing of the police summoning of former finance minister Lim Guan Eng on Christmas eve reeks of malice and political vindictiveness.
Moreover, it is for purported offences that were committed more than a year ago. Even back then they arrested Lim and, at the same time, pulled his wife in for questioning.
I am heartened that the call to cease what can be regarded as victimisation crosses the political divide.
The Royal Malaysian Police, as a critical part of our society and the protector of all, must not be seen to be acting at the direction of politicians.
They must not just be fair and transparent, but they have to also be seen as fair and apolitical in carrying out their duties. – The Vibes, December 23, 2020
