MELAKA – Sapura Cycling Team started on the right note on the first day of the 2021 National Road Cycling Championship (NRCC) here today when their rider Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli defended his title in the 45.3km individual time trial out of a cast of six riders.

The 22-year-old finished the race in the elite category with a time of 1: 00: 17.74 seconds, overcoming Mohamad Nur Aiman Mohd Zariff of Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) who came in second after clocking 1:01:22.954s.

“The challenge this time was strong winds. Although already mentally and physically prepared with strong wind conditions throughout training, the wind speed this morning was very different.

“Even though my time was not as good as last year, I am satisfied. Thanks to the team, I managed to do it and maintain victory for the second year in this championship,” he said when met by reporters after the race.

Another Sapura Cycling Team rider, Akmal Hakim Zakaria, finished in third place with a time of 1: 01: 28.73s.

For tomorrow’s competition, Aiman Rosli, who hails from Johore and donned the national jersey in 2020, is confident of pulling off more surprises for the team. – Bernama, December 29, 2021
