KUALA LUMPUR – The sports fraternity has welcomed Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s new appointment as the youth and sports minister with open arms.

Speaking to The Vibes, Football Association of Malaysia president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin assured that Yeoh will have the full support of the football community.

“As a representative of the football fraternity, we will give our full support to Hannah and I look forward to her new ideas to improve, not just football, but our sports industry in its entirety.

“Any challenges that comes our way, we will face together.”

Meanwhile, Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sri Norza Zakaria congratulated the 43-year-old former women, family, and community development deputy minister.

He hopes the support for OCM continues.

“I would like to congratulate Hannah Yeoh on her appointment.

“I hope she will continue to provide her support to OCM as previous ministers have.”

National Sports Council director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail said it looks forward to working with Yeoh.

He noted she possesses the right personality to head the ministry.

“I am excited because she is a new face in the world of sports in this country, and look forward to continue carrying out programmes for our athletes and the people.

“I may not know her personally but I admire her calmness, and she takes her work seriously, which could be the basis in our journey to make our sports better for the sake of Malaysia.”
