KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Swimming secretary-general Mae Chen hopes Nur Dhabitah Sabri’s marriage would further inspire the national diver to improve her performance.

Dhabitah was reported to have tied the knot with local comedian Muhammad Aizat Ahmad Nazri, better known as Jiggy Masin, on Friday.

Astro Gempak also reported that the marriage ceremony was held in private and attended by 150 family members.

“I am happy for Dhabitah. She is a great athlete and I believe she would be able to balance her career and personal life well,” said Chen when met at the flag-handing ceremony for the Malaysian contingent to the Cambodia SEA Games at the National Sports Council here, today.

“When an athlete knows how to balance their commitment to training and family members, and they are clear about what they want to achieve… I am sure they will be able to succeed.

“Take another diver Muhammad Syafiq Puteh, for example, he is also married.

“After he got married, he has become a better athlete. His dives have been improving as well as his focus. His scoring has also improved.”

Dhabitah and Jiggy are rumoured to have developed a close relationship since being acquainted over a year ago when they met at a shooting session.

However, the reception has yet to be revealed as the 23-year-old diver will be going to China for a month’s training. – The Vibes, April 30, 2023
