A WIZZ Air flight from London to Tel Aviv was escorted by Israeli fighter jets following a security concern that arose after a young passenger changed the Wi-Fi name to “terrorist.”

The incident occurred on February 8, 2026, according to a report by the New York Post.

Flight W95301 was en route to Ben Gurion International Airport when the cabin crew was notified of the suspicious Wi-Fi hotspot name.

Another passenger trying to connect to the Wi-Fi saw the word “terrorist” and immediately notified the cabin crew.

According to the New York Post, fighter jets were deployed to escort the plane until it landed safely in Israel.

A thorough check was carried out on passengers and luggage at the airport to ensure there was no real threat.

The check found that the Wi-Fi name belonged to the passenger's phone and was believed to have been changed by a child as a joke before boarding the plane.

No real security threat was detected.

The incident also caused temporary disruption to other flights at the airport before operations returned to normal.

A Wizz Air spokesperson stressed that the safety of passengers and crew is the company's top priority. – February 12, 2026
