SINGAPORE – Singapore will further tighten its border measures to include countries like Thailand in view of the increased risk of community transmission in the country, according to the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) on Covid-19.
In a statement today, MTF said all travellers entering Singapore from 11.59pm, May 2, who have a travel history in the past 14 days to Thailand will be required to serve a 14-day stay-home notice (SHN) at dedicated facilities.
“They will no longer be allowed to opt out of dedicated SHN facilities, even if they have obtained earlier approval to opt out,” said the MTF.
Thailand has reported 1,583 new Covid-19 cases and 15 fatalities over the last 24 hours, with the number of fatalities and patients in critical condition in the upward trend.
Meanwhile, the republic is also restricting travel from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as there have been sharp, recent increases in Covid-19 cases reported in these countries.
From 11.59pm, May 1, all long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with a recent travel history, including transit, to these countries within the last 14 days will not be allowed entry into or transit through Singapore.
“This will also apply to all those who have obtained prior approval for entry into Singapore,” the statement read.
