KUALA LUMPUR – The government has adjusted the ceiling price of bottled palm cooking oil to RM33.50 for 5kg from RM34.70, effective September 8 to October 7.
Jihad Against Inflation Task Force chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the ceiling prices for other packaging are set at RM21.10 for 3kg, RM14.30 for 2kg and RM7.50 for 1kg.
The new prices are lower than the previous price of 60 sen for the 3kg bottle, 40 sen for the 2kg bottle and 20 sen for the 1kg bottle.
“The reduced prices are based on the crude palm oil (CPO) price in August, which was RM4,169 per metric tonne,” Bernama reported Annuar as saying after chairing a meeting of the task force.
He said the CPO price in July had been slightly lower at RM4,060 per metric tonne. – The Vibes, September 1, 2022
