FORMER National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac has chosen to quit show business, as he does not see a bright future for himself as an actor, producer or director.

The 50-year-old star of films such as Ringgit Kasorrga, Hanya Kawan, Cuci, Buli, Laila Isabella and Los Dan Faun said that it was "time to move on" and focus on other business ventures instead.

In a personal Whatsapp message to The Vibes, he said, “As they say, all good things must come to an end. And after 25 over years as an actor... it wasn’t really a bad ride was it? I’ve been blessed, I’m truly blessed and will forever be grateful.

“It all started when Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba casted me in her film Ringgit Kasorrga back in 1994. 30 over feature films, a crazy amount of TV dramas and shows later, add in the numerous Best Actor, Screenplay and winning Best Supporting Actor for Buli Balik with Afdlin (Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan) to acting in Philippines (Miss You Like Crazy) to Singapore film City Sharks, it is time to take a step back.

“Acting was never really my passion, it was always about creating a bigger legacy but I learned to love and enjoy the process and was fortunate to work with the best in the industry.

“For those who know me best, they’ll tell you I’m not the kind who sits and does nothing. I always ask myself 'What’s next Hans?' Once I’ve achieved a certain goal. How can I improve and at the same time give opportunities to others around me?

“I will continue to support the industry as always. There is the cinema side of things, management and perhaps even go on stage with Awie (Datuk Ahmad Azhar Othman) and Afdlin from time to time for a good laugh and some fun.

“My hope is still to one day direct another musical theatre in Istana Budaya and continue towards spending time to build my company.

“For if there were no one who believed in me before, there would not have been Hans Isaac, the ACTOR. So thank you to all the producers, directors, fellow colleagues, and the crew members I've worked with through the years for giving me some of the best memories of my life.

“I always say my fans are my friends. They’ve always been with me throughout my journey.  Thank you for the years of support in everything that I do.

“One chapter ends, a new one begins… ”
