THE Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) will announce several additional measures in the near future on efforts to improve safety aspects in schools and student discipline as decided by the Cabinet.

Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek said several incidents that occurred recently required the MOE to work harder to improve certain gaps that exist to ensure the safety of children, teachers and all education staff.

“There is no such thing as a holiday because we are currently intensifying efforts to organise all mechanisms to strengthen a safe school ecosystem.

“I have held a meeting and briefing with the psychosocial support team who are implementing crisis interventions to help school staff who have been affected by several incidents, to support their mental,” she said in a Facebook post.

Previously, several incidents were reported to have occurred at schools, including a 16-year-old female student who was stabbed to death at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya on October 14.

The suspect in the case, a 14-year-old male student, was detained to assist with the investigation.

In addition, a female Form Three student at a secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka was raped by a senior student on October 2 and a male student was found dead after falling into a sewage drain after stepping on a fiber-type manhole cover in the school grounds on September 27. - October 20, 2025
