CARING Malaysians rushed to the aid of a single mum who was desperate to get a laptop for her son's studies - getting him a brand new one within just 24 hours.
Relating the single mother's story, philanthropist Chee Heng Kuan, also known as Uncle Kentang, said she was asked to leave her marriage home 12 years ago due to abuse.
At that time, her son was just six-years-old and she had no savings and no place to go.
She rented a room in Seremban for RM350 a month and began selling char kuey teow, earning about RM700 monthly.
Despite the hardships, Uncle Kentang said the son worked hard and scored 6As in his SPM.
"She kept telling her son to study hard and that he must do well in life," he said.

Following his SPM, the son is now undergoing teacher-training in Sikamat and needed a laptop for his coursework.
"His mother could not afford it and began asking around for a second hand unit.
"I shared her story on my Facebook and within 24 hours, kind Malaysians bought a brand new one and sent it to her," he said.
The woman was seen wiping away her tears when Uncle Kentang informed her about the act of kindness from fellow Malaysians.

He also thanked everyone for their kindness in helping out the family.
"You all made her smile," he wrote. - October 24, 2025
