A SOCIAL experiment called 'Period cramp on train' originally intended to promote social goodwill has drawn flak on social media for crossing the lines on public privacy.

The woman in question uploaded a video to her TikTok account @daniaaisya.live, showing her pretending to have menstrual cramps and squatting on the floor of the LRT to see if passengers would offer her help.

However, it backfired as the faces of several passengers were clearly visible in the video.

The video shows two female passengers who gave up their seats for the woman.

Moved by this, she wrote in the video, "Sisterhood knows no race; what matters is a kind heart."

However, the video sparked controversy when some netizens condemned a female passenger named Eshaa for not getting up to offer her a seat after seeing the woman squat down.

However, Eshaa immediately came forward to explain that she herself was not feeling well at the time of the incident and needed to sit down and rest.

She was also carrying a lot of things and had been in the hospital all day, so she had no energy to pay attention to what was happening around her.

"I was tired. I cried like crazy at the hospital ... You think I had time to think about my surrounding? Because of this video I am being condemned ... no common sense," she wrote.

Eshaa's reaction on Threads also attracted widespread attention.

A female netizen warned the public, especially content creators, to know how to protect public privacy and not to expose people without consent and at will.

"Please blur the faces of the people around you, because we don't know what each person has been through. For example, the person sitting (who didn't give up their seat) might be pregnant, or they might have just had a long and tiring day."

Meanwhile, Eshaa also revealed that the woman who filmed the video did not get her consent, which clearly violated her personal privacy.

“They filmed this video without even telling me, but when others asked about it, she replied that she had permission, which is a complete lie.”

“She knowingly committed the crime and deliberately posted such a video. She even zoomed in on my face. If she had blurred my face, I wouldn’t have cared so much.” - November 1, 2025
