A MAN took to social media to urge others to be extra careful when paying for parking that uses the automatic number plate recognition system.

According to the FB post by Pak Meon, the system displayed a parking fee of RM5 when he was about to exit.

“However, as I was about to tap my card to pay for the parking, the amount suddenly changed to RM1,469.00.

“I was shocked and was lucky I had not tapped my card.

“I proceeded to reverse and went to another exit, but it did not recognise my number plate, and I had to use the intercom to call for help,” he said.

He said if he had paid the RM1,469.00 fee, it would have been a hassle to request a refund.
