Visit Terengganu Year 2027 - Many hope to return to rekindle fond memories
WITH its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, Terengganu is actively formulating sustainable tourism strategies in preparation for Visit Terengganu Year 2027.
Also, in conjunction with the campaign, a veteran tour director said many former civil servants, students and medical officers, who were once posted to Terengganu, were making reservations to visit the state to rekindle old memories.
A Rajeswari Seenivasam said many of them had once studied, worked and built their early careers in the east coast state.
“Many of the enquiries and bookings have come from former civil servants, students and medical officers.
“They want to return with their families and revisit the places that formed an important part of their lives,” said the director of CP Tour and Travel.
Rajeswari said the prospective travellers, mostly middle-aged and from various ethnic backgrounds, were particularly interested in small-group and family-oriented packages.
“We were taken aback by the number of people asking us to design itineraries that would allow them to rekindle memories of their time in Terengganu.
“For many of them, the state holds a special place in their hearts because it was where they began their careers or spent their student years,” she said.
She said the company, which has been taking tourists to Terengganu for more than a decade, was preparing guided packages for travellers who wished to avoid the long drive from the Klang Valley.
“We are readying our buses and vans, with passenger safety remaining our priority throughout the journey,” she said.
Rajeswari said premium packages were also being designed to combine Terengganu’s islands and beaches with ecotourism attractions, cultural heritage and community-based experiences.
She said the growing interest showed that travel was not always about discovering somewhere new, but could also offer people a meaningful journey back to the places that shaped their lives. – September 16, 2026
