AFTER 20 years of serving the community, the husband and wife behind Damansara Perdana restaurant, Mum’s Place, have announced their plans to retire at the end of December.
"It is with a heavy heart that Mum & Dad have decided to call it a day and retire, with plans to move to Perth to be with our daughters," they announced in an Instagram post on September 20.
"It has been a fruitful and memorable 20 years of serving many of you who grew up with our delicacies and desserts.”
Christopher De Mello and Jennifer Tee started operating Mum’s Place in September 2001.
The restaurant’s menu is representative of the variety that is inherent in Malaysian cuisine, with a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Portuguese dishes, among others.
Their signature dishes include the cencaru fish covered in a cili padi paste with fresh petai, a Portuguese-inspired 'Devil' curry, and various seafood and desserts.
"From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful guests, employees, and vendors for supporting us over the many years. We look forward to your continued support in the remaining months leading up to December."
The Instagram post concluded with a footnote aimed at those possibly interested in either buying selected recipes or the business itself. – The Vibes, September 22, 2021
