"I’VE used various methods to lose weight, but it didn't work. Finally I decided to have weight loss surgery which included removing part of my intestines," said Aishah.

Datuk Wan Aishah Wan Ariffin compared her experience to carrying a 'baby hippo' inside her.

"I've used various methods to lose weight, but it didn't work. Finally I decided to have surgery. I confess, I have lost 47 to 50 kilograms after the bariatric procedure.

“I couldn't imagine how much weight I lost. I also didn't think I had brought a 'baby hippo' anywhere all this time," she said, her admittance received with laughter from her fans.

Aishah made the honest confession on the night of the Aishah & MPO: A Symphonic Rendezvous Concert, which took place at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall last night.

She also said that she would be able to wear her old clothes from The Fan Club era.

"But, unfortunately... I didn't keep those clothes," Aishah added.

Aishah became the lead singer of pop group The Fan Club in New Zealand in 1987, before launching her solo career in 1990.

Last night, Aishah performed a series of her solo songs as well as songs from when she was with The Fan Club.

There will be a review of Aishah's concert on Getaran, our Malay-language sister portal, later. – The Vibes, August 7, 2022
