DESPITE numerous calls including from the prime minister to stop harping on the religiously offensive socks issue, a group decided to stage another protest.

However, the protestors ended up staging their boycott in front of the wrong shop.

In a 13-second video which has since gone viral, and shared  by user "Mesinbasuh" on reddit, the group can be seen gathering in front of a 99 Speedmart outlet instead of KK Mart.

The video was accompanied by the caption, "Salah kedai bang, boikot KKmart, itu Speedmart (Wrong store, should boycott KKmart, that is 99 Speedmart)," along with laughing emojis.

Netizens who saw the video hit out at the group, with some saying it was the dumbest thing they had ever seen, while another said it was sad that people do not have better things to do.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently called on parties harping on the issue surrounding the religiously offensive socks spotted at some KK Super Mart outlets to allow action to be taken and not unduly dwell on the matter.

He said that everyone commits mistakes and any punishment that is meted out should not be excessive.

He said those who made the mistake should not be taken to task to the point of being tormented, in obvious reference to the apology tendered by the owner of the minimart chain and the local supplier of the items which were made in China. - The Vibes, March 23, 2024
