A SECOND KK Mart outlet, this time in Kuantan was attacked with a petrol bomb, just a few days after the first attack on March 26.

Kuantan police chief Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the incident occurred at about 5.14 am at the outlet in Sungai Isap.

The petrol bomb burst into flames on the carpet and several items at the front of the outlet were on fire.

A cashier managed to grab a fire extinguisher and doused the fire, while another employee called their manager.

The manager contacted the police and Fire and Rescue Department.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect may have thrown the petrol bomb from a distance to avoid being caught by the CCTVs.

"No one was injured in the incident and damages were estimated at RM500.

"We are still investigating and scrutinising CCTV footage from other cameras in the area.

"We urge anyone with information to contact the police," said Wan Mohd, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code.

In the last incident, a petrol bomb was thrown at a KK Mart outlet in Taiping, Perak.

The bomb is believed to have been thrown around 5 am and landed in front of the outlet but did not explode. - The Vibes, March 30, 2024
