MUDA Sarawak has condemned the recent acts of violence against KK Marts nationwide.

Its Sarawak Information chief, Norashikin Baidawi said violence has no place in our society, and such actions were unacceptable.

"We stand in solidarity with all those affected by these regrettable events.

"It has come to our attention that a local KK Mart (in Kuching) was subjected to an attack in connection with the recent disturbances.

"We wish to express our deepest concern and condemnation regarding this incident," she said in a statement.

She said the safety and security of businesses and individuals in our community must be upheld and protected at all costs.

"We want to emphasise that this is not how Sarawak people live. Ours is a community built on principles of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.

"We reject violence in all its forms and call for those responsible for these reprehensible acts to be brought to justice swiftly," she said.

Her statement comes in the wake of the third Molotov cocktail attack on a KK Mart - this time at an outlet along Jalan Satok in Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday.

"Muda urges everyone in our community to remain calm and refrain from resorting to violence or vigilantism. Instead, let us come together to support one another and work towards resolving our differences through peaceful and constructive means.

"As we navigate through these challenging times, let us uphold the values that define us as Sarawakians – unity, compassion, solidarity, and a commitment to building a better future for all," she added. - The Vibes, April 3, 2024
