ELEVEN men were brought before the Sessions Court in Seremban today on charges of being members of an organised crime group identified as ‘Geng Vinod’.
The accused — G. Sanggeethan, A. Lawrence, M. Puvaneswaran, R. Shervinkumar, M. Surenthar, S. Sri Tharan, P. Saarvin, N. A. R. Viknesvaran, M. Naviedran, Muhammad Vinod Saktivel and J. M. Kishaan — nodded in understanding after the charges were read separately before Judge Husna Dzulkifly.
They were accused of being members of the organised crime group between April 2024 and 27 June 2026 at a parking area in front of a row of shop lots in Bandar Rimbayu, Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat, Selangor.
However, no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The accused were charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code (Act 574) for being members of an organised crime group. If convicted, they face imprisonment of between five and 20 years.
All 11 accused were subsequently sent to Tapah Prison.
The court fixed 14 September for mention of the case.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Muhammad Shahrezal Mohd Shukri and Chow Siang Kong.
Earlier, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M Kumar said all the suspects, who are Malaysians aged between 21 and 34, were arrested during a special operation conducted on 23 and 24 June.
He said the operation was carried out by Bukit Aman CID in collaboration with the Selangor CID to dismantle the alleged organised crime group.
Kumar said Geng Vinod was led by a 30-year-old local man and comprised 17 members aged between 20 and 34, many of whom were repeat offenders.
He added that the group was believed to have been active since 2023 and had been linked to several serious offences, including gang robberies, attempted murder, armed riots, causing injury with weapons and criminal damage. - July 24, 2026
