THE implementation of QR codes at the Johor Baru-Singapore entrance near Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), has been postponed for two weeks, according to a report in the New Straits Times.
The use of QR codes at the entrance was to have started last Sunday.
Johor Works, Transportation, Infrastructure, and Communication Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the vendor was currently completing the MyRentas application to enable QR code usage at BSI.
Fazli said that currently, the use of QR codes for Immigration Department inspections is only at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) for the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link.
“QR codes usage started at KSAB on June 1, where Malaysian citizens who use buses and motorcycles do the MyTrip registration found in the MySejahtera application.
“Alhamdulillah, the use of QR codes at KSAB went smoothly during the trial period. So far, there have not been any significant technical issues.
“However, at BSI involving the Johor Causeway route, the vendor is still finalising the MyRentas application and it is expected to be able to be used in another two weeks,” he was quoted as saying in the report.
Fazli hoped that travellers between the two countries (Malaysia and Singapore) could try and download the application for the QR codes usage. – June 3, 2024.
