Main suspect in kidnapping of Albertine Leo to face 15 charges

THE suspect in the abduction of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui faces 15 charges in separate courts in Johor Baru and Kulai today.

The 31-year-old man, dressed in a black T-shirt and denim shorts, was in handcuffs when he arrived, escorted by police, at the Johor Baru court Complex at 8am.

Eight charges are expected to be read at the Johor Baru sessions court and seven at the Kulai magistrate's court.

On Sunday, the suspect was re-arrested following the discovery of sex toys and child pornography at his home in Kulai.

Johor police chief M. Kumar said the investigation papers were sent the state deputy public prosecutor's office, which returned with instructions to proceed with the charges.

The suspect was the fifth to be arrested in connection with the girl's kidnapping, following the arrest of four others on July 22 and 23.

The six-year-old girl was reported missing by her father on July 20 at a shopping mall in Iskandar Puteri. She was found three days later in a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor. – August 8, 2024.
