SABAH PKR election director Datuk Peto Galim said the party has initiated informal discussions with other political groups with formal negotiations expected by March next year.
“Seat negotiations within PH are in the final stages and may be concluded before the end of December,” he said in Kota Kinabalu today.
“There have been no formal invitations to negotiate with other groups. We hope to start talks with them by March or earlier.”
Galim added that internal discussions within PH are expected to wrap up next month, clearing the way for talks with other alliances.
However, he did not disclose which political groups were involved in the informal discussions.
Seat negotiations among PH, BN, and GRS remain tense, driven by disputes over seat allocations and overlapping constituencies.
BN remains cautious about unequal representation, while GRS is keen to preserve its autonomy amid internal calls to contest independently.
Trust issues and unresolved conflicts, particularly between GRS and BN after their fallout in January last year, hinder progress of forming a pact between them.
These challenges make it difficult for PH to commit to working with either alliance.
Sabah is expected to hold its state election next year.
Meanwhile, Sabah PKR plans to lodge a police report over defamatory claims against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Information chief Razeef Rakimin said the false allegations on TikTok and Facebook accuse the Prime Minister of protecting Sabah assemblymen linked to corruption.
“We have links and screenshots, which we will hand over to the police,” said Razeef.
The defamatory claims allege the Prime Minister used this as leverage to request more seats for Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming state elections.
“This is malicious defamation against a leader known for opposing corruption and abuse of power,” he added.
Razeef also condemned calls for the Prime Minister to pressure the MACC to act against those involved.
