KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Rahah Mohd Noah, the mother of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, died today after being admitted to a hospital here last night. She was 87.

She was receiving treatment at Prince Court Medical Centre in Jalan Kia Peng last night.

Najib had shared pictures of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paying her a visit yesterday.

Tun Rahah was the widow of second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak. She married him on September 4, 1952.

The couple had five sons – Najib, former CIMB Bank chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazir, Datuk Ahmad Johari, Datuk Mohamed Nizam and Datuk Mohamed Nazim.

Tun Rahah was born in Muar, Johor, in 1933. Her late father was Tan Sri Mohammad Noah Omar, who was one of Umno’s founders and later appointed the first speaker of the Dewan Rakyat. – The Vibes, December 18, 2020
