A 22–month–old boy died at the Kota Samarahan Health Clinic in Samarahan district, Sarawak after his father rushed him to the emergency ward yesterday evening.
Samarahan district police chief Jaimi Husin said police have since opened two investigation papers into the incident.
The father rushed his son to the clinic at about 4.41 pm yesterday.
“The toddler was unconscious upon arrival and doctors tried to revive him, including using CPR, but were unsuccessful.
"The father said the toddler was found unconscious in the back seat of his car," Jaimi said in a press statement today.
The Sarawak General Hospital is also carrying out a detailed examination of the incident.
"We have asked the Sarawak General Hospital for forensic tests on the toddler's body to determine the cause of death.
"The two IPs are for sudden death and under Section 31 (1a) of the Child Act 2001,” said Jaimi.
He urged the public not to speculate on the case and to refer to the police if anyone had any related information. - January 25, 2025
