53-year-old arrested in connection with death of woman near bridge in Kuantan

POLICE arrested a 53-year-old man today, believed to be the suspect in the murder case of a woman found by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge in Kuantan the day before yesterday.

Kuantan District Police Chief, Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the suspect was arrested in a house in the Wakaf Tembusu Gong Badak residential area, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu at around 5:30 am.

According to reports in Berita Harian, he said that among the items seized along with the suspect were a ring, cash, clothing, and documents to assist in the investigation.

The media had earlier reported that the body of a female trader was found by the riverbank near the Tanjung Lumpur Bridge.

The initial investigation found that the victim was a 37-year-old local woman who lived in this district and was also a food vendor.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – February 15, 2025
