THE Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said it may suspend the licence of Era FM radio station because of its three DJs accused of making fun of a religious festival.

MCMC stated that the licence holder has 30 days to respond before a final decision is made.

It also mentioned that an investigation paper about the case would be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor tomorrow.

"Due to this issue, MCMC met with Astro's top management yesterday," MCMC said.

An investigation has been opened under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and statements from those involved have been taken to help with the inquiry.

It was earlier reported that police are wrapping up their investigation into the video featuring the three Era FM DJs. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that six people, including the DJs, have been questioned as part of the investigation.

To date, a total of 44 police reports have been filed regarding the video. – March 5, 2025
